New Book(s) in the Works

Pssst - I have news! For the last few years, I’ve been quietly working away on a new book that is completely different from everything else I’ve written. I’m not going to give any details right now except to say that it is full of love and loss, and gardens grown by magic hands.

A few years ago, I started reading more traditional fantasy than I’ve ever read before, and of course a new book started fomenting at the back of my brain. Two or three years ago, the whole plot of this new idea tumbled out of me into the book I call “The Book of My Books,” which is where I scribble down all my ideas and notes for things-in-the-works. And thus a new book was born.

And in the years between first thinking about this book, and actually putting pen to paper (figuratively, of course - I write on a computer), I lost my favourite aunt very slowly, my favourite uncle very suddenly, and my complicated dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s - lost in a whole other, equally terrible way. Needless to say, the last few years have been pretty painful.

So, this book is about pain.

But it’s also about love. Between sisters, between mums and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters, between lovers, and love for the planet we live on, the only one we’ve got.

It’s still in the very early stages of being a book, all green and spindly, so I have no other news to report at the moment, but I will say that this little sprout may not be a book at all, but the beginning of a series. The bud of this story has blossomed into three more possible books in my head, and I’m super excited to see where all its vines may grow! Hopefully before too long, I’ll be able to share this new book with you :)
