I'm the kind of writer who needs utter and absolute silence when I'm actually writing. I'll even plug my ears in a totally silent house to listen to my words as carefully and closely as possible (I am wayyyyyy too easily distracted!).

BUT, I'm also the kind of writer who needs a lot of inspiration to keep moving forward with a story, and music is a big part of that. I can't tell you how many times I listened to these songs while I was writing the book, but I can tell you that I now have permanent tinnitus from blasting them way too loud while walking around thinking up dark and gritty scenes...
