2019 White Pine Award Honour Book!

White Pine Award Honour Book certificate.

I am so completely thrilled to let you all know that Black Chuck has been selected as a 2019 White Pine Award Honour Book, alongside Vicki Grant's 36 Questions That Changed My Mind About You, and the 2019 White Pine Award Winner Heather T. Smith's The Agony of Bun O'Keefe. That means that my book landed in the TOP THREE for this award! I’m so honoured!!

The best part about this award is that it is voted on by young readers in the Forest of Reading programme, organized annually by the Ontario Library Association. This means my book has reached young readers all across Canada - and beyond! - and I really don't think a debut writer could ask for anything more.

To be chosen as a "top three" Canadian YA book from literally hundreds of other options, and alongside some of the best and most inspiring authors around, is really truly deeply a dream come true.

Thank you SO MUCH to all the kids who read and voted in the White Pine category, and to the Forest of Reading & OLA for selecting Black Chuck as part of this year's programme. And Big Big thanks to Sarah Harvey, who pulled this book out of the slush pile, and to Orca and everyone else who gave it life! You are all my heroes!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
