Three Ideas for Frankenstein

PROJECT

Book Cover Design

WORK

Concept, Photo Manipulation, Typography, Layout and Design

Three ideas for Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, using photos of vintage book covers, overlaid with samples of Shelley’s own hand-written manuscript.

Design one references the letters and journals in the narrative of the novel.

Design two invokes the eponymous doctor by stitching fragments of letter forms together.

Design three plays on the use of electricity in the novel with cracked and distressed paper, and leans into the infamy of the work by using only Shelley’s name.
